Unsatisfied customers

I was given the task to compile the survey forms taken during the Church retreat last weekend. As I read thru the responses and comments, I realise that the members of my local church are one bunch of demanding people! Sigh… :-(

Sure, there were a lot of compliments given to the camp speaker. But there were a lot of complaints too on other matters!

I must say that some are valid complaints – and we will indeed take note of it. But others…??? Sigh (again)…

There was even one complain that was aimed specifically at the organising committee – basically, it took offence of us in the OC going out to have supper at nites.

Lemme just put the record straight. As I have said in one of me previous posts, because of the many things that we have to do, a lot of us miss out on the meals. Even if we do grab a bite, it would be a quick one.

On top of that, every nite, after everyone has taken their supper and gone back to sleep, the committee would then meet to evaluate the day gone by and to discuss on matters arising regarding the next day to ensure the smooth running of the programme. We would oso take note of the many complaints received and discuss possible actions. We would then spend sum time to pray then. After that, we had to ensure that the hall was securely locked up before going back to our rooms. Some of us only get to eat our dinners then!

There was no more food left and there was nothing on sale on the camp site itself. So we would go out.

I guess it is always easy to sit back and just complain. We tend to look at the cup as half empty instead of half full. If the OC does its job well, it is only wat is expected. If we make a small mistake, then we would get jumped at.

There were other complaints too – like having too many musical instruments (incidentally, we only had the piano, bass and drums) for Sunday morning worship was inappropriate!!! But I must ask - it is ok to have it during other worship sessions? What gives???

Then, there were complaints that the young people only sat among themselves during meal times. Maybe this is true – but hello? Did the adults make any effort to sit with the young people? Wouldn’t it be easier for the adults to sit wif the young people than to expect these teenagers to pluck up the courage and sit with the adults – who are only interested in finding fault wif the teens! Sheesh…

Thank God these complaints are only in the minority. There were others who did appreciate the efforts put in.

Still, we serve Him for His approval and not to obtain praises from men. But I must admit that going thru the forms did get me a lil unhappy. O well…

Oh - one more thing. If you ever have to fill in a survey form, do think of the poor fella who has to compile it later and make an effort to write in legible handwriting!!! ;-P

Comments:
i guess the diff in our camps these days is that there are no restrictions on "going out for supper". the "lights out" time is imposed so that those who wanna sleep won't be disturbed.

and if anyone had missed their dinner, they could have joined us! :-)

but thanks for the feedback - will take yr advice to try to improve so that there'll be less complaints!

btw, i realised this morning (12 sumthing) that the road signs for yr house are both covered with branches and leaves!!! tt's why i's so difficult to find yr road! lol!
