Service with a smile

Yes, it's the time of the year for Tennis again - the best of all the Grand Slams (IMHO) - Wimbledon!!!

And it has been a great tournament!!! Big players knocked out – Justine, Nadal, Safin, unknown players (to me) pushing big names to the brink, Henman loses (no big surprise, eh?), the Brits have got a new hero, Federer drops a set!

I enjoyed watching the new young players. The big stage does not seem to faze them at all. Instead, they played well and gave the seeded players some scares! It was evident that they lost due to their inexperience.

Still, it was nice to see their fresh skill, and players like Santangelo and Bracciali who turn away smiling when they lost a point to an unbelievable shot by their more famous opponents – instead of throwing tantrums and sulking like the millionaires do!!!

Well, the first week has ended and I haven’t got enuf of it! Hopefully, next week will be just as entertaining!

Here's a tribute to the hitherto unknown players:-

Haynes giving Serena (in a horrible pink dress - no doubt she designed it herself) a good scare in her first game!

Santangelo - following in Haynes' footsteps!

Mirza - lost to Kuznetsova but won over a lot of fans! Yours truly included!

Bracciali - played an excellent game, only to lose to an Excellent Roddick!

Tursonov - the man who silenced the Centre Court!!!! No big deal - he just defeated Henman, tt's all!!!! (see the Wimbledon logo on his shirt? I read that he had to borrow the shirt as all of his were stolen earlier!!!)
