Fruits
One of the simple pleasures of being in a camp is being able to have the luxury of time to sit and chat and catch up wif others. I had so many of those occasions and I praise God for them.
I was chatting wif a sister on Saturday and I was telling her that my earliest memory of her was during a youth camp back in 1997. I was telling her wat an excellent camp it was.
It was an evangelistic camp held at the Methodist Centre at Port Dickson, a famous beach getaway in the west coast of West Malaysia. We had an excellent speaker, a man I admire and look up to a lot, even till today – Dexter Ng. the theme of the camp was “That Thing You Do” which refers to “sin”.
What really made that camp special (besides the time I spent wif W on the last nite ;-)) was the number of young people who gave their lives to Jesus during that camp.
One was a brother who went on to become the chairman of the student committee and is now a youth leader and a promising future leader of our Assembly.
Another was a sister who has since moved to New Zealand. Her commitment and faithfulness in the Lord was evident to all and is still evident to me when I read some of her e-mails.
And then there was this sister – whom I became really close to (I became her “adopted brother”) – who is now in Australia. She too served God actively, used her gifts in singing and acting for His glory and when down in Australia, became a main leader of the Overseas Christian fellowship in her Uni.
It gives me great joy to think of these brothers and sisters who gave their lives to God at such a young age and now I see them serving and glorifying Jesus with their lives!
As I chatted wif the sister during the camp, she said that she too found the camp special. For it was at that camp that she accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Saviour!!!!
I din know that! At that time, I was in charge of the older youths so that probably explains why I din know or can’t remember it.
And today, I look at that sister, how she has grown in the Lord and how she is serving Him – even during the camp too – and I truly give thanks to God for her. I give thanks to God for that camp way back in 1997. I give thanks to God for Dexter. I give all glory to God!
This really encouraged me to continue to serve Him faithfully – for we reap what we sow and in due time, we will indeed see the fruits.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
