Bread and butter
The Lord indeed provides. Less than 2 weeks ago, I made the decision to quit my job. i could not take it anymore. It was indeed a difficult place to work at. Not so much the staff there whom I will miss. It was the boss. Unfortunately, she thinks she is an excellent Christian.
In my 2 months there, I understood why the turnover rate for lawyers there had been so high. I had expereinced meself how she would promise one thing but conveniently change it to suit her own interests and benefit. I have witnessed how unfair she treats her staff. I was appalled by the standard of professionalism in her work.
I must say that she did not mistreat me - except to change my job description so many times that I have lost count, and not paying me what was agreed upon from the beginning (a misunderstanding, it seems...)
Oh well... on my last day at her office, I received a call from a fren who asked me if I was interested to do some temporary job. I took the contact and I'm back in employment again!
The place where I work! *beams proudly*
It's called the "Palace of Justice"

Yup, my work palce is at the Federal Court. But no, I do not have a glamourous job. I'm almost like a "Court Steno" you see in American legal movies!!!
I'm actually working for a software company which produced a software to be used in the Courts.
Now for those who have not been in our local Courts before, let me tell you sumthing shocking - we do not have anyone typing out the proceedings. Instead, if you ever do attend one, you'd be surprised at the snail pace the proceedings go in as the Judge (or Judges as the case may be) have to personally record down wat is said by witnesses and lawyers.
This of course leads to some problems. The Judge may not record accurately. The proceedings are delayed.
Now, the Courts are willing to try out this new programme where the proceedings are recorded digitally and a typist will be typing down every word that is recorded.
They needed a typist and they needed one who would be able to make sense of the legal jargon and the legal proceedings. They got me! :-)
It is however a little scary. I went for "training" yesterday. It was not much of a training as the computers are not all up yet! And I foresee a lot of problems which can and will arise. The scary thing is that I will be there alone during a real hearing and the Judges as well as the lawyers will NOT be taking down the proceedings but instead will be relying entirely on ME!
Anyways, since the computers were not all up yet, I din really do much. i actually went around taking pics of teh interior of the Court room - since I prolly won't get another chance to do so - so seize this great opportunity to see the pics here!
And since it is Court's Vacation now, I will only start on the 20th. There is of course another round of training this Saturday - which I hope will be much more fruitful.
We'll see how.
