The root!
This is the famous “Moon Gate” near the Botanical Gardens in Penang.
I took this pic early this year. It is the starting point if one would like to take the challenge of hiking up to Penang Hill. I did it when I took the pic– you can read about it here.
Now, lately there has been some “problems” faced by the Penang Island Municipal Council. First, they find that a lot of people urinate behind the walls of the Moon gate. Secondly, transvestites allegedly gather there at night, causing fear to hikers.
So wat does the PIMC do about it? Simple – they decide to demolish the walls which make the “wings” of the Moon Gate!!!!

Ridiculous – but typically Malaysian! Instead of going to the root of the problem, they make fools of themselves! If people are urinating behind the walls, wat do u do? Tear down the walls? How bout building public toilets? And since when do people hike up Penang Hill at nite? Even if they do (I’m not a Penang-nite), will tearing down the walls solve the problems of transvestites?

Dun just put out the fire, get to the root of the problem!!!! When will we Malaysians ever learn? Or shall I say, when will the Malaysian authorities ever learn???
